Volodymyr Zelensky, traditionally congratulating Ukrainians on the New Year, expressed solidarity with Belarusians, Georgians, and Moldovans:
"Today it is important to support all the peoples who defend freedom. Who do not give up in Chisinau. Who fight for their future in Tbilisi. And I am sure that the day will come when we will all say: 'Long live Belarus!'"
Zelensky noted that Europe should not be afraid of Ukraine - everything must be done to ensure that there is no Russia in Europe.
"If Russia shakes your hand today, it doesn't mean that tomorrow it won't start killing you with the same hand. Because Russians are afraid of freebies. They are afraid of the unknown. They are afraid of freedom. They were born for Putin, studied for Putin, went to serve Putin and died for his sick ideas," the Ukrainian leader said.
In response, Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya thanked him for these words.
"Thank you, Vladimir Zelensky, for your convincing call to support Belarusians who stand for freedom. We are united by our struggle for dignity and democracy. Together we will prove that no dictator will be able to break the spirit of those who believe in freedom," the head of Belarus wrote on the social network "X".
Let us remind you that Zelensky previously expressed confidence in the future of Belarus as part of the EU , stating that the Belarusian people themselves should start negotiations on accession.
