On the eve of the "elections", the regime announced its desire to participate in peace talks in Ukraine. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Yuriy Ambrazevych. He emphasized that Minsk is interested in a peaceful resolution of the "conflict".
Lukashenko, feeling that he has not been taken seriously in Western countries for a long time, is trying to somehow demonstrate himself as an entity with his own influence and interests in the region. He wants to demonstrate to his electorate his significance on the international stage.
But the regime's claim to be subjective in matters of peace is a reminder of its direct complicity in the aggression against Ukraine. Isn't that why it wants to influence decision-making, because it was the one who helped Putin start the war and expected to get some "goodies" for it?
Fearing such questions, Abramzevych in the same statement actively denies accusations of complicity in Russian aggression. According to him, the regime from the very beginning was in favor of resolving problems peacefully and for its own place in the negotiation process. But in what status Belarus wants to participate in it is unclear.
